The Truth About Music

"What's hot, what's not, and whats next in pop music"

Harris’ Song of the Week: Stars by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals

Some people have been all over Grace Potter for years now. She’s slowly risen from indie obscurity to mainstream gem and her song “Stars” from 2012′s The Lion the Beast the Beat is her first on the Billboard Hot 100. It recently peaked at #95.

The song itself is quite powerful and musical. It starts with some ominent tones and a distant guitar before Grace Potter’s voice takes control and does the rest. She has the ability to command a song with her voice like few artists can. When she’s belting “I can’t look at the stars, they make me wonder where you are” you can’t take your ears off her.

There is still a long road between where Grace Potter & The Nocturnals are now and reaching the mainstream success that they are obviously destined for, but if this song is any indication of what the future could hold I’m really excited to find out what lies ahead.
