2013 SXSW Alphabet: 26 Bands We Can't Wait To See At SXSW (Q-T)

Each and every year, South by Southwest is a launching pad for new music. From John Mayer to Marina and the Diamonds, the festival has a knack for producing

big name stars. As The Truth About Music prepares to cover the event for the fourth consecutive year, we’re excited to travel through the alphabet and pick 26 bands that we can’t wait to see at SXSW 2013. Enjoy!

Q is for Quiet Corral: Six. Count it, six bands that will be performing at SXSW have names that start with the letter Q. This is always one of the toughest letters to find a band for. Last year, we got lucky with Quiet Company who have become one of Austin”s favorite SXSW bands. This year, we got lucky again. Although their YouTube page is filled with covers, we have a feeling that Quiet Corral will be a very entertaining group live.

R is for The Rocketboys: This was a tough letter. There were a lot of great bands from The Revivalists to Ravens & Chimes. When the dust settled, The Rocketboys were our favorites. A smooth mix between soft rock and modern indie rock, great songwriting puts them over the top.

S is for Skinny Lister: With so many bands at SXSW, sounds tend to bleed together. We”ve got a very fresh sound coming in at letter “S” on the countdown. A folk rock group from the UK, Skinny Lister have all the qualities that made us fall in love with Flogging Molly fifteen years ago.

T is for Terraplane Sun: If you”re looking for your classic SXSW band, here they are. Mild commercial success in 2012, they are poised for a big 2013 and have a sound that fits right into the pop scene in 2013.
