2013 SXSW Alphabet: 26 Bands We Can't Wait To See At SXSW (E-H)

Each and every year, South by Southwest is a launching pad for new music. From John Mayer to Marina and the Diamonds, the festival has a knack for producing big name stars. As The Truth About Music prepares to cover the event for the fourth consecutive year, we’re excited to travel through the alphabet and pick 26 bands that we can’t wait to see at SXSW 2013. Enjoy!

E is for

The Eastern Sea: This band makes the list simply through intrigue. Lead singer Matthew Hines has a voice that is pure

magic on a record. It is rich and melodic, fitting in perfectly amongst the bands tone. Austin based, I will be very interested to hear them live.

F is for Fine Times: Canada consistently produces some of our favorite artists at SXSW. Last year we met The Balconies. This year, the sound of Fine Times is all of our radar. A very upbeat style and plenty of racing synthesizer make their sound very easy to listen to.

G is for Galaxy Express: If 2012 taught us one thing it”s that just because a song isn”t written in English, doesn”t mean it can”t go platinum and become a cultural phenomenon. Galaxy Express is from South Korea and their song “You & I” is just awesome. Despite the language barrier, the music shines through.

H is for Harlan: Another surprisingly deep letter, “H” had a number of runner ups including Heartless Bastards and Hundred Visions. When the dust settled, the clear winner was Harlan from Los Angeles, CA. The sound can only be described as smooth with a tightly produced sound. (We were having trouble embedding this video so for now, head to YouTube to check it out).
