SXSW Alphabet: 26 Bands We Can't Wait To See At SXSW (I-L)

Each and every year, South by Southwest is a launching pad for new music. From John Mayer to Marina and the Diamonds, the festival has a knack for producing big name stars. As The Truth About Music prepares to cover the event for the third consecutive year, we”re excited to travel through the alphabet and pick 26 bands that we can”t wait to see at SXSW 2012. I is for Imagine Dragons: This band is a potential band. Having opened for a number of impressive mainstream acts, SXSW could show us if Imagine Dragons are fit for mass audiences. Their harmonies are brilliant and their sound is just unique enough to stand out from the crowd.

J is for J. Pinder: Another artist with huge top 40 potential, J. Pinder is a rap artist from grunge capital Seattle, WA. With a melodic sound, backed by a live band (at least in his music video), J. Pinder is a talented lyricist and is backed by big time production. J. Pinder”s largest problem will be standing out in an arena that features hundreds of rap artists. Something about his style sticks out and we”re giving him a shot.

K is for Kids These Days: There was a lot of pressure to pick Kimbra in the K category. After all, she is featured on one of the hottest songs in the country right now (Gotye”s “Somebody That I Used To Know”). Instead, we landed on Kids These Days, an acoustic rock meets hip hop group from Chicago. The pairing of a melodic songwriter and a talented rapper is an art and this group nails it.

L is for Library Voices: To start, this was the toughest category to pick. There were four legitimate bands that could have been our category L representative. After a lot of debate, we settled on Library Voices for their unique sound and super cool groove. If you”re unsure how a “groove” can be “cool,” listen and learn. You”ll understand very quickly. The honorable mentions in this category are , and .
