The Truth About Megamind

I am not impressed. That’s what I thought after seeing the various trailers for Megamind. With no intentions of seeing it, I was persuaded into the theater by a general lack of other options and a recommendation from a previously trusted movie fan (sorry @WintersNight). In summing it up, the movie was not good.

Here’s the thing. I wanted to like this movie. Jonah Hill. Tina Fey. Will Ferrell. What’s not to like about that cast? The problem is that it wasn’t well written. With a very similar premise to Pixar’s “Despicable Me,” the movie needed to go above and beyond in order to impress an audience that hasn’t changed much in the three months in between releases.

Just as the movie reached the ten minute mark and the intro ended, I thought to myself, “well if the movie is good, that intro will of been the worst part.” It didn’t get better. Amongst cheesy one liners that drew some minor laughs, were drawn out and intermingled plot points that people couldn’t care less about. It was clear that the voice actors in the movie weren’t involved in the writing process. There is no way Fey would of signed off on this one.

The main thing that we learned from Megamind is that we’re sick of the bad guy becomes the good guy strategy. Star Wars got it dead on. Despicable Me made it annoying. Megamind killed it. Stop it. Bad guys are bad. Good guys are good. Please stop mixing it up. Finally, these 3D movies have to stop. We decided against seeing this one in 3D but out of six trailers; all of them were in 3D. Done tastefully, it’s awesome, but there is no way that Yogi Bear is going to be better in 3D.

There are actually a whole lot of details like that to take into consideration. That could be a great level to deliver up. I supply the thoughts above as common inspiration however clearly there are questions just like the one you convey up the place the most important thing might be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged round things like that, but I’m positive that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both girls and boys feel the impact of just a second’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
