The Truth About Music
"What's hot, what's not, and whats next in pop music"
Memories of SXSW 2010 Coming Front & Center
Here’s a quick thought about a particular band I remember hearing at SXSW. On my final night in Austin, I recall standing outside of the Billboard Bungalow with the temperatures dipping below forty degrees waiting for a few late night bands to come on. Standing next to Bill Werde, Billboard’s Executive Editor, I recall him leaning into me right as a pair of musicians took the stage and saying “these guys are going to be huge this year…”
Although they got off to a slow start, I was quickly blown away by remixes of Passion Pit’s “Truth” and MGMT’s “Kids.” Chiddy Bang was able to provide the crowd with a huge influx of energy despite the near freezing temperatures and late night hour. One this is for sure, Chiddy Bang has made a splash in the pop world with “Opposite of Adults” and as Werde said, “…these guys are going to be huge…”
