We all love music and we all love fashion. Its when the two join forces that we lose our minds.

The Yellow Bird Project does just that: “You can think of us as a tree of creativity, with branches joining together indie musicians, charitable organizations, and t-shirts with a fashionable punch. We’re a non-profit Montreal based organization dedicated to bringing our customers the finest of quality, originality, and philanthropy. We seek out only the coolest of cool artists, collaborate with them to design awesomely awesome tee-shirts, and give all the prettiest of pretty profits to charities of the artists’ choice.” This is a brilliantly brilliant idea.

The Yellow Bird Project is working with a sick selection of indie artists from Bloc Party to The National to Stars, Ra Ra Riot and so on. With a brand spankin’ new design just released by Whispertown 2000 it seems as though the artist catalog will only grow for the better and the designs will continue to be unique, all while benefiting a wide range of charities. What I love the

most is the personal attachment each band has with their charity of choice. This aspect gives YBP a heart and a soul that people like us can relate to. You can also purchase hoodies, scarves and t-shirts with the original YBP logo with proceeds supporting the Project itself.

As soon as I stumbled upon the site via twitter it was love at first site (like most things for me when it comes to music). I’ve already decided on my order of the TV on the Radio “David Bowie” Tee and the official Yellow Bird Project hoodie. TV on the Radio’s charity of choice is Partners in Health who has done a TREMENDOUS amount of work in Haiti after the recent earthquake and for the past 20 years – I not only love the band and the design but I also support the work that Partners in Health has done.

Whether you’re like me and love the whole package, just love the band or just love the charity, The Yellow Bird Project is a remarkable way to use your love of music in a way that’s in style and helps those in need.

Keegan Forte I want you to leave here everyday with a good sound in your ears with something new to listen to, a song that defines your day or week or life, a quote that will get you by and, of course, a desire to come back for more. As it says in Time Out New York’s book “1,000 Songs To Change Your Life:” “Music is everywhere we turn, unavoidable and inescapable. It provides a soundtrack for adolescence and adulthood, Saturday nights and Sunday mornings, relationships and break-ups, lives and deaths. Its simple ubiquity makes it the cultural air that we breathe.” …see full bio
