The Truth About Music

Harris’ Song of the Week: “Rabbit Heart” by Florence + The Machine

KT Tungstall meets The Ting Tings. I really hate when music writers say that a band is this band mixed with that band. Unfortunately I couldn’t think of any other way to describe this weeks song of the week artist Florence + The Machine. Taking really catchy tunes and racing through them with a driving beat, lead singer Florence Welch really shows what it means to be a female front woman.

The song I chose is from the bands 2009 release “Lungs.” Gaining popularity in the underground circuits, 2010 could be the year that this group takes a step onto the big stage. Using the popularity of other European, female led groups, Welch takes a huge sound and gives it a fun mellow rock twist. Despite not being the most played song from the debut record, this song shows many sides of the group, from production to vocals and everything in between.
