The Truth About Music

"What's hot, what's not, and whats next in pop music"

Harris’ Song of the Week: Monster by Meg & Dia

You’ve caught me. Once again my song of the week has been influenced by my week in music. Although I was appalled at the state of music during the The Take Action Tour, the ray of light was Meg & Dia, two sisters that rock hard. The song I have been listening to non-stop is ‘Monster,’ from the bands 2006 release “Something Real.”

Although the band is relatively young, and have not had their big break yet, this song is waiting in the wings. Although it might not be the first single to bring them to the next level, this song has hit written all over it. Backing from a Gossip Girl could be just the recipe for this band to get to the next level, and this song should be the first one chosen.

The song itself blends Avril Lavigne and Evanescence into the perfect rock song. Although the song seems to have more of an alternative edge than many of their other songs it’s one of my favorites from the old album. Give it a listen, let me know what you think.
