The Truth About Music

Harris’ Song of the Week: Ghost Town by Shiny Toy Guns

There are often bands that do nothing to impress you for years on end and then suddenly it clicks. It could be a song, or an album but either way you know that the band has what it takes. After hearing a lot of mediocrity from LA rockers Shiny Toy Guns, it took a single like ‘Ghost Town,’ to really make them stand out.

The single is really catchy, but at the same time is very dark, all happening within what would be considered a hard rock song. Reminding me of a style portrayed by Avenged Sevenfold and Blue October, this band clearly has what it takes to write a hit song. ‘Ghost Town,’ is getting a lot of radio air play and could very soon find themselves on national tour.

Although I have yet to be blown away by their other songs, Shiny Toy Guns have a really solid grasp on their music and should stick around for the long haul. It is also worth noting that this weeks song of the week was not easily found. It was a very close race between a number of songs that have been stuck in my head.
