The Truth About Music

Harris’ Song of the Week: Merry Happy by Kate Nash

Ok, I know. I’ve been listening to way to much girl singing, pop playing bands. I just can’t get enough of them right now. This weeks song of the week is one that I just can’t stop playing. Its a delightful blend of piano and drums. There is very little in this song besides those two instruments and of course the lovely vocal stylings of Kate Nash.

This british singer/songwriter has been on a role ever since coming to the United States and is now getting a lot of recognition in the same way Lily Allen and Amy Whinehouse did before her. One thing that is immediately apparent in this song is her british accent. I think it sounds amazing. Many singers sing in a different tone than what they speak in. Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day sounds british when he sings and Coldplays songs sound surprisingly american. She is very genuine in her approach and is definitely worth a listen (or ten).
