The Truth About Music

The Truth About Erica

Erica Clayton - Copy Chief

When I was a little kid, I used to bang on different parts of my house with chopsticks to see what sounds I could make. Years later, things haven’t changed much, but the noise I used to make has evolved into music (although I guess it depends on who you’re talking to). If you haven’t gotten the idea yet, I love music more than I love anything – even more than I love grammar.

I’ve been going to and running live shows for years, and sometimes run around Europe on tour with my own groups/projects. I’m passionate about three things: writing, event planning and Lady Gaga. I’ve had a lot of experience watching young bands turn into national sensations, and then editing the articles written about them. What an exciting life I live!

I believe that music is what you make of it; just because a piece of music isn’t written in a style you like doesn’t mean it’s bad. I believe that in order to truly love an art, you must be open minded and accepting of new and different material. I am also a student at The Hartt School, graduating in May 2010. Follow me on twitter for a recap of my daily shenanigans, if that’s what you really want. @ericaribou.

Couldn’t agree with you more on this: “I believe that music is what you make of it; just because a piece of music isn’t written in a style you like doesn’t mean it’s bad. I believe that in order to truly love an art, you must be open minded and accepting of new and different material.” So well put.
