The Songs in My Head
It is important to note anytime you hear a song that gives you goosebumps. As I continue to comb through the Black Eyed Peas new album The E.N.D. I have found another song that I can’t stop listening to. Track 9 on the album is called “Party All The Time,” and it makes you want to dance irrationally. The chorus is what really gets me and this album might just get me checked into the dance music party I have been avoiding my whole life. Continue...

The Songs in my Head: Hello Mexico
Stemming from Portland, Maine, Sparks the Rescue have just released their debut album “Eye To the Sun.” The album has a lot of high and low points but one of the highest points is track four, “Hello Mexico.” Although the song fits perfectly into the opening portion of this album it is a really unique song. If you are sick of hearing the same old song from alternative bands check this song out, you will be pleasantly surprised. Also, be sure to listen all the way through because towards the end there is a really awesome breakdown that is a can’t miss part of this album. The Songs in my Head: Boom Boom Pow
It didn’t hit me until tonight. Standing inside the Mohegan Sun Arena waiting for the arrival of Fall Out Boy to the stage the speakers started pumping the brand new Black Eyed Peas song. I guess there’s something about hearing it in an arena, through thousands of watts that makes you really hear a song. It is great to see this band back together and I hope the rest of the upcoming album is as good as this song. If you have some time I definitely recommend checking this song out, you won’t be disappointed. Check out this youtube video featuring “Boom Boom Pow,” by the Black Eyed Peas Continue...

The Songs in my Head: 1980
When I think of the word rehab in a musical context only one person comes to mind. Amy Whinehouse has been in and out of rehab for years and her first hit single shared this title. When I heard that the extremely catchy song titled “1980″ was by a band named Rehab, I was in shock. The truth is, “1980,” by the hip hop fusion group Rehab is a fantastic song that has a chorus hook that cannot be missed. “I told her yo listen up cuz I love you lady we go back like 1980, lord knows your the one to change me you love me cuz im so crazy, you’ll see it will be you and me always always.” Although the song comes from a deeper place than the hook ridden chorus will suggest, this song is all over radio and clubs at the same time. People seem [...] Continue...

The Songs in my Head: N.E.R.D.
After listening to an amazing show by N.E.R.D. I cannot stop listening to these guys. Although I was not such a big fan before the show, like so many other great live acts, their live show really sells their albums. An incredible party in Connecticut will surely lead to some great album sales for this group. Although they have not produced a lot of new material as of late, I hope that they continue to perform live and spread the word, live music is not, and will never die! Check out this video for the song “Rockstar” on Youtube Continue...

The Songs in my Head: New Found Glory
New Found Glory’s latest album, “Not Without A Fight,” came out a few weeks ago with very little buzz. The shining crown on this album is the first single, “Listen To Your Friends,” which is a really old school sounding song by the veteran pop rock band. Although there are a couple of other good tracks on the album, nothing else really blew me away. Give this track a listen and let me know if you dig it. Check out New Found Glory’s “Listen To You Friends,” on Youtube Continue...

The Songs in my Head: The Fratellis
The song in my head at this very moment is a completely unknown song by one of my favorite bands, The Fratellis. Released in the United States on the “Look Out Sunshine EP” contained a live track of “Look Out Sunshine,” along with three new songs. One of them is “B Movie Saga,” a really awesome song written in a very classic Fratellis style. If you are a fan of their latest album, “Here We Stand,” you will certainly love this song. check it out, let me know if you liked it. Check out this unofficial music video of “B Movie Saga” on Youtube Also, please note that the man on the album cover to the EP looks like Eddie Izzard playing the role of Mister Kite. Continue...

The Songs in my Head: Green Day
With the encouragement of some close friends I have decided to create some smaller feature stories. This will now be an ongoing column in two parts. There will be “The Lyrics in my Head,” and “The Songs in my Head.” The titles should be pretty self explaining. For my first ever segment of songs in my head, I have decided to tell you my thoughts on Green Day’s new single, “Know Your Enemy.” My initial reaction was that this single could easily be on their last album, “American Idiot.” The more I listen to it the more I like it, and it definitely did one thing. It made me extremely excited for May when their new album, “21st Century Breakdown,” comes out. Check out this song in my head (or at least 30 seconds of it) by clicking here. Continue...

The Hip-Hop in My Head
This title could of just as easily been titled songs of the moment but for right now there are two hip-hop songs that I cannot stop listening to. One of them is a few months old and the other is brand spanking new. The older of the songs is Akon’s most recent single “Beautiful.” This song is such an amazing club anthem and is in heavy rotation within that circuit. If I were at a party over the past few weekend this would be the song I would want to hear. An interesting element to this song is that the full version lasts for just over five minutes. As Billy Joel said “If you’re gonna have a hit, tou gotta make it fit, so they cut it down to 3:05.” It is a rarity for a hip-song to be this long and still receive substantial radio airplay. What really makes [...] Continue...
