iTunes Free Single of the Week: Archie Bronson Outfit
This weeks free single from iTunes is a fun electronic song from Archie Bronson Outfit. Based in England, this trio has received high praise from critics, but minimal attention in the U.S. spotlight. Their album “Coconut” is currently entering its second month on shelves and time will tell if this brit-rock band can sustain in the states. Their sound is comparable to Kaiser Chiefs on both acid, and electronics. They have similar sounds, adding in tons of synth to create a new sound. This song is definitely worth the hard drive space. Here’s the link to download “Sharks Tooth” by Archie Bronson Outfit (this link will open iTunes). Continue...

iTunes Free Single of the Week: Kidz In The Hall
This weeks free single from iTunes brings something new to the table. Over the past few weeks their songs have been mundane, boring and unoriginal. Kidz In The Hall present us with something new, sort of. With their song “Jukebox,” Kidz In The Hall break things down old school with hip-hop beats and a classic rap over the top. What ends up limiting this songs potential is the lack of a killer hook and the repetitiveness. Despite a less than generic sound, Kidz In The Hall won’t see this song get them very far on the charts. It will take a much more original song although their overall sound shows some potential to grow. Continue...

iTunes Free Single of the Week: Vita Chambers
Picture Cobra Starship with a lead singer that looks like a skinny Jordin Sparks Is it bad to open with the word generic? As I listen to Vita Chambers, this is the word that comes to mine. There is almost nothing unique about this singers style. The free single of the week reminds me of Cobra Starship in the way it is formated. There is a simple verse with synth and guitar followed by a slight pause leading to a chant along chorus. This is the mold that has made Gave Saporta’s band successful. The song has weak lyrics and a very repetitive verse that completely bores your ears. I would save the hard drive space and pass on this weeks free single. Continue...

iTunes Free Single of the Week Review: Dommin
Picture a dark Adam Lambert leading Shinedown into battle: Classified as rock and sporting a lead singer that looks like he belongs in a gothic remake of “Phantom of the Opera” Dommin hails from Los Angeles, CA and is this weeks free single of the week. Giving a sound that mixes the musical qualities of Shinedown and the vocal performance of Chris Cornell, Dommin lives up to the image they portray. The song itself is an epic gothic rock anthem called “My Heart, Your Hands.” With everything from chimes to synth, this songs production is drummed up to the max. With the right backing, this song could see some movement on charts although the bands image will surely hinder the cause. Bands like this have become a dime a dozen over the past few years as Shinedown, Flyleaf, Theory of a Deadman and even Nickelback have emerged as mainstays on [...] Continue...

iTunes Free Single of the Week Review: Easton Corbin
Every week, iTunes puts out a free single of the week. Doing something that is almost unheard of in the corporate world, Apple doesn’t ask for promotion or charity. They simply give you a free song to do what you want with. In the past, free singles have helped introduce us to the likes of: Owl City’s “Fireflies” – July 14th, 2009 Ida Maria’s “I Like You So Much Better When Your Naked” – April 14th, 2009 Cage The Elephant’s “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked” – April 14th, 2009 Passion Pit’s “Sleepyhead” – February 24th, 2009 Carolina Liar’s “Show Me What I’m Looking For” – March 3rd, 2009 We thought it would be fun to start tearing these songs apart, seeing which weeks are good, and which weeks simply stink. We hope you like our new column, iTunes Free Single of the Week Revue: This weeks free single comes [...] Continue...
