Jamaican Queens ‘Bored + Lazy’

Hailing from the Motor City, Detroit-based trio Jamaican Queens, comprised of songwriters Ryan Spencer and Adam Pressley and percussionist Ryan Clancy, marry a pop sensibility with elements of grime, industrial and trap music.

This disarming, left-of-center combination was first heard on the band’s critically acclaimed debut Wormfood, and is loud and clear on their latest single “Bored + Lazy.”

Described the band as “if Ian Curtis were to be the cure to Destiny’s Child’s depression,”  the track blends the 808 and double bass stutter-stop sound of late’s 90/early 00′s R&B with dirty synthesizers and atmospheric guitars, while vocoder-tinged vocals supply the melodic pop sheen.

Listen to “Bored + Lazy” HERE.  The single is slated for release on November 4. View Jamaican Queens’ tour dates below.
