Jinkx Monsoon Shares ‘The Bacon Shake’ Single

Jinkx Monsoon’s days as “America’s next drag superstar” may be numbered, but with the release of “The Bacon Shake,” the latest single from her The Inevitable Album, she’s proving she won’t be “sashaying away” anytime soon.

The song was a collaboration with the B-52′s Fred Schneider, whom Jinkx calls a “personal hero.” Monsoon says Schneider wrote the tune based on “the idea of Jinkx having once been prim and proper; but after her first wild party, she quickly turned into a ‘lady hurricane’ who’s ready to shake her goods for every boy at the bar.”

So far so good right? Musically, the track has a kooky old school Bette Midler-meets-Rocky Horror Picture Show-vibe, with Monsoon’s playful, aggressive vocals leading the campy charge.  Aside from “The Bacon Shake,” The Inevitable Album, which came out this week, features send ups of Monsoon other influences, including Marlene Dietrich, Patsy Cline, Billie Holiday and Cole Porter, as well as cabaret and burlesque.

“We concocted an album that is a cohesive mixture of classic and contemporary,” she said. Listen to “The Bacon Shake”  HERE.  And while you’re at it, take a look at Jinkx Monsoon’s video for “Coffee and Wine” below.
