Chic Gamine 'Days and Days'

Melding Motown-era rhythms and harmonies with modern indie pop, quintet Chic Gamine have created quite the buzz in their native Canada, and are now poised to bring their sound stateside with their debut Closer.Formed in 2007, Chic Gamine”s four female vocalists–along with sole male member and drummer Sacha Daoud–have a knack for transforming personal trauma into shimmying melodic gold.

“I would say that it’s very autobiographical of each of the individuals in the band respectively,” says Chic Gamine. ”Recurring themes would for sure be heartbreak and figuring out life as a 20-30 something but also there is a hopefulness and a childlike playfulness in the way that those themes are represented … we’ve gotten good at disguising

really sad songs by making them more uptempo so you can still dance… even when you’re sad!”

Tracks like “Days and Days,” the doo-wop inspired “Paper Moon” and the gospel-tinged “Shake Off Your Worries” definitely make dancing on your own infinitely more attractive. Listen to “Days and Days” .
