My Morning Jacket and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band will share the stage for the “On The Beach-A Sandy Relief Concert,” which will benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.
The concert, which will be hosted by Jersey native Matt Pinfield, will take place January 2 at the Paramount Theater in Asbury Park, Tickets go on sale this Friday at noon EST at Stone Pony Box Office, and are also available via Ticketmaster. For the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, who have roots in New Orleans, performing is their way of giving thanks for all the support they received in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
“Following Hurricane Katrina, the response from around the world was overwhelming,” creative director Ben Jaffe said. “Now it”s our time to give back to a devastated community where many of our friends, family and supporters call home. In New Orleans, we
turn to our music during hard times. It offers us hope and the feeling that things will be better. We are doing what we always do during hard times: celebrate life.”
My Morning Jacket is also donating a portion of every ticket sold to to their sold out three consecutive shows at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester and the special New Years Eve show in Boston to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
