Meshell Ndegeocello Releases New Album, Shares MP3

Meshell Ndegeocello’s latest album, Pour une âme souveraine (“For a sovereign soul”), is out today. The disc, the singer’s tenth, is a follow up to last year’s Weather and a tribute to soul great Nina Simone.

Joined by musicians Chris Bruce (guitar), Jebin Bruni (keys) and Deantoni Parks (drums), the singer-songwriter, rapper, bassist, and vocalist reworked some of the tracks

made famous by the iconic musician. The album features guest appearances by Sinead O’Connor, Lizz Wright, Valerie June, Tracy Wannomae, Toshi Reagon and Cody ChesnuTT.  You can order the album on iTunes HERE or on Amazon HERE.

Some of the tracks include “Feelin’ Good,” “Real, Real” and “Don’t Take All Night,” a bluegrass duet with O’Connor. “To Be Young, Gifted and Black,” one of the album’s standout cuts, features vocals from ChesnuTT and is available for download.
