VHS or Beta Release 'Diamonds & Dub,' MP3 Announce Tour Dates

VHS or Beta have dropped “Diamonds and Dub,” the first offering from their forthcoming album Diamonds and Dubs.

Putting a new spin on last year”s Diamonds & Death, duo Mark Palgy and Craig Pfunder recruited renowned DJ and producer Jacques Renault (Holy Ghost! YACHT, Midnight Magic) and engineer/remixer Mark Verbos to create a dub version of seven of the album”s nine tracks.

The idea came when Palgy met Renault while the latter spinning disco records in Brooklyn bar The Commodore. “The idea of dub versions began in the late 70s and early 80s,” Palgy explains. “Artists began seeking extended 12 inch mixes of their songs to be played in nightclubs. And usually one side of the 12 inch

had a ‘dub version’ which was a little less vocal and usually a bit spacier due to echoes made from spring reverbs and cool studio effects. So rather than get people to do more traditional remixes as we know them today — we decided this time around to try something that hasn”t been done in a little while.”

To get a taste of the album, download “Diamonds and Dubs” below. VHS or Beta have also announced a cluster of dates, kicking off tomorrow with a show at T.T. The Bears in Cambridge, MA. View the full list of dates below.
