Bloc Party To Release New Album

Bloc Party will release their fourth album later this year, as confirmed by frontman Kele Okereke earlier today during an interview with BBC Radio 1′s Zane Lowe.

Okereke said the band has already cut two completed tracks for the album, as well as demos for 17 other songs.  The announcement marks the end of Bloc Party’s two-year hiatus, which began in September 2009. “We can do whatever we want now and people will come to it on its own terms,” Okereke told the BBC. “I’m excited about the idea of making rock music again.”  The singer, who recorded his first full-length solo album The Boxer  last year, described the new album  as sounding unlike “anyone else on the planet.”

The new release will be the follow up to Bloc Party’s 2008 release Intimacy. Okereke’s bandmates were also busy during their time off, with guitarist Russell Lissack and bassist Gordon Moakes launching side projects.
