Heavy D Dies At 44


Rap icon Heavy D has died. He was 44 years old. The rapper collasped in his Beverly Hills home Tuesday morning and died a short time later at a Los Angeles hospital, according to police and the coroner.According to, Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was found conscious but have trouble breathing at his home after police were called at 11:25 a.m.

He was pronounced dead in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The cause of death has not been determined, according to Los Angeles County coroner’s operations chief Craig Harvey.

A member of Heavy D and The Boyz, the rapper scored a breakthrough hit in 1991 with a house-inspired remake of The O’Jays “Now That We Found Love,” and also rapped on hits for both Janet and Michael Jackson, laying down rhymes on the former’s 1990 hit “Alright” and “Jam” for the latter. He also composed theme songs for shows like In Living Color, Mad-TV, and The Tracy Morgan Show as well as acting in movies and television.
