Big Black Delta’s Debut To Drop In September, Announce L.A. Residency

The L.A. based-experimental pop project known as Big Black Delta, or BBD for short, is slated to release their debut BBDLP1, September 26.

The full-length is a follow up to their free debut EP BBDEP1. Using the premise of “being out of tune” as inspiration, the new material is a batch of layered sonic concoctions that are the creative brain children of BBD’s fearless leader, multi-instrumentalist Johnathan Bates, who recorded the album entirely on a laptop given to him by Nine Inch Nails’s Alessandro Cortini.

Cortini also guests on the album, playing the buchla on the track “The Zebra.” Other guest stars include M83 and White Sea’s Morgan Kibby and Kevin Bronson, the former lending vocals on “Dreary Moon,” the latter popping up on “Capsize.”

To promote BBDLP1, the band will have a September residency at swanky L.A. venue The Satellite. Bates, along with live drummers Mahsa Zaragan and Amy Wood, will be performing every Monday. View the dates below.
