March Movie Trailer Breakdown
With a brand new design for the site comes brand new columns. This month, we are launching a monthly post in which we talk about new movie trailers. While some people believe you can’t judge a book by its cover, we have a different philosophy. If the producers and directors can’t get together and find two minutes of worthwhile content to help promote their project, why should we go see it? With that in mind, here’s our very first Movie Trailer Breakdown. Apollo 18: Absolutely in love with the concept. Who wouldn’t want to imagine there was another moon mission and we’re not going back because those astronauts were killed by an unexplained life form? Yeah, I’ll buy into this one. This one should be a real chiller. Arthur: Seems somewhat generic for Russell Brand although I loved Greta Gerwig in Greenberg with Ben Stiller. Guess it has a chance [...] Continue...

Opinion: Garageband For The iPad Will Once Again Revolutionize The Music Industry
That’s right. You’re reading correctly. The iPad 2 along with its flashy new application Garageband, will in fact revolutionize the music and recording industries. In order to fully grasp this concept, we have to take a step into our technology time machine. Starting in the middle of the 20th century, recording music was a luxury. It was a tough proposition to rent a studio, hire an engineer and get a group of musicans together. Aside from the logistical side, it was expensive. As technology progressed, things got slightly easier as we approached the ’90s and recording moved mostly to computers. Instead of having to physically cut tape, recording engineers could move levers and drag their mouse across a computer screen. Continue...

Wow, I Can’t Believe It, Charlie Sheen Is A Normal Guy
Actor. Role model. Actor. Role Model. You can even throw athlete in there too. It’s simple enough to understand. Just because someone is famous, it does not make them a role model. I’ve written about this topic before in regards to athletes but Charlie Sheen has changed the discussion. Over the past few weeks, thousands of people have been glued to their monitors (usually computer monitors) following the drama between him, his producers, his ex wife and his friends. The real question for me is, why is this so abnormal. Take a moment and put yourself directly in his shoes. You’re a middle aged man, with a playboy personality. You make roughly $2 million per episode on one of televisions hottest comedies. Now we ask, would you behave any differently? If your answer is yes, you are not being honest. The point is, Charlie isn’t breaking laws. He isn’t driving around intoxicated [...] Continue...

And The Oscar Went To…TAM’s Oscar Recap
Check out our Facebook Page for awesome photo’s from the 83rd Academy Awards. Here we sit a day later. The Oscars are over. The winners are happy. The losers are likely still either very upset or very hungover (or both). Now we are left with looking back on the year in movies and figuring out what the Academy got right and what they got wrong. The general feeling amongst people I watched the Oscars with that of blah. They were overwelmingly bored with the show. There’s a simple reason. There wasn’t a single upset. Every single person who was picked to win, won. The Golden Globe winners all took home the same awards, without any notable upsets. There was very little in the way of true emotion that can only come from a young Adrien Brody beating Jack Nicholson, Daniel Day Lewis, Michael Caine and Nicholas Cage to win Best [...] Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: Price Tag by Jessie J
Are you ready for some straight up bubble gum pop. I’m talking about pop on the level early Katy Perry or Avril Lavigne. Let me be the first to introduce you to Jessica Ellen Cornish, better known by her stage name Jessie J. Becoming another in a growing line of songwriters gone pop stars, Jessie J has spent the last five years writing songs for everyone from Alicia Keys to Justin Timberlake. Her most notable writing accomplishment to date was penning Miley Cyrus’ smash hit “Party In The USA.” Similar to Bruno Mars and Skylar Grey who are both on the way to stardom via this path, Jessie J has turned her incredible songwriting talents into a promising solo career. Review: Patrick Stump Storms The Stage With New EP Truant Wave
Just over a year ago, Pete Wentz announced on his Twitter account that Fall Out Boy would be on hiatus. He used the line: “…A hiatus is forever until you get lonely or old. I don’t plan on either.” The band was in the midst of an emotionless period, playing concerts but appearing to have almost no fun doing it. As if the rock gods were telling us something, their run ended as many of their fans bored with them. It should have been clear at that time that the two standout members of the band, Wentz and Patrick Stump would be back in some regard. Each had built a brand around themselves during Fall Out Boys nine year run. Well the time has come. As if to celebrate the one year aniversary of the band breaking up, Stump has released a long awaited solo project. Writing and composing all [...] Continue...

iTunes Free Single of the Week: “Happily Ever After” by He Is We
It’s been a few weeks since I’ve written this column and I have a confession to make. While these usually end with a link to iTunes so that you can download the song for free, this one will not for a simple reason. This was last weeks single of the week on iTunes. Either way, this song very well might be worth a purchase online, or at least a listen on YouTube. He Is We hails from the great state of Washington and features the duo of Rachel Taylor and Trevor Kelly. What’s interesting is the gaping body of water this group seems to bridge. Halfway in between female alternative rock like Meg & Dia or Hey Monday and country superstars like Taylor Swift, He Is We has a brilliant overall sound. Full of hooks, their songs scream top of the charts. Last weeks single, “Happily Ever After” has the [...] Continue...
