88th Annual Academy Awards Winners
The 88th Annual Academy Awards are upon us and I thought I would take a moment to recognize how truly awesome the Oscars are. With only 24 awards given out all night, it is among the toughest awards for a performer to add to his or her mantle. Guys like Alejandro G. Iñárritu are trying to add a 2nd in the same number of years, something that hasn’t been done since the ’50s. Others, like 87 year old Ennio Morricone and 41 year old Leonardo DiCaprio, are just trying to win their first! Both of those are likely to happen by the way. Here are my picks for the 88th Academy Awards: Continue...

Harris' Top 5 2016 Grammy Performances
In recent years, the Grammy Awards have become more about the performances than the awards themselves. With nearly 100 Grammy’s given out, it’s sometimes hard to decipher the winners and it seems as if by the nights end, every person in attendance is leaving with their own award. The performances however are truly what help the Grammy’s stay relevant. Who else could have brought together Eminem and Elton John? Or paid tribute to Bob Marley by brining together Sting, Ziggy Marley, Bruno Mars and Rihanna? The one and only answer is, the Grammy’s. Continue...

Review: Spotlight Takes The Cake In Mediocre Movie Season
I live roughly three miles from three local movie theaters. The one still showing Spotlight is the oldest and smallest Among them. My drive home lasts all of ten minutes and it wasn’t until I was about one minute from home that I realized I was griping my steering wheel furiously and there was no music playing through the stereo in my car. I had driven home in silence, digesting what I had just seen. Continue...

Opinion: Will Smith Wasn’t Nominated Because (Gasp) He Didn’t Deserve It
Let me be the last person to bring this up this month. In the wake of Jada Pinkett Smith’s comments about her husband not being nominated for Best Actor at the 2016 Academy Awards, people went crazy regarding her boycott of the ceremony. Continue...

Review: The Revenant, A Stunning Visual Without An Oscar Worthy Performance
I can’t be the only person in America to have come to this conclusion. Right? The Revenant, the latest film by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, is a stunning piece of cinematic glory. It’s filled with incredible visuals, excellent and original story telling and of course, plenty of character depth. What it lacks is a performance worth of the title it seems to have already claimed. Continue...

Is Leo’s Quest For An Oscar About To End?
In 2014 the stage was set. Leonardo DiCaprio had won Best Actor in a Motion Picture Musical or Comedy at the Golden Globes and all he had to do was hold off the front runner for a few more lengths. The Wolf Of Wall Street was all the rage during January and Leo could smell the highest prize in acting. As February began, like a well trained horse coming off the final turn, Matthew McConaughey caught fire and it became clear that Dallas Buyers Club would clean up the acting awards on the men’s side at the 86th Academy Awards. Continue...

Opinion: Marvel Has Officially Ruined Superhero Movies
Call it an unpopular opinion. In fact, based on the definition of the word, it might be one of the least popular opinions in movie history. Want to see how unpopular it is? Here we go: Three billion four hundred fifty-nine million four hundred fifteen thousand eight hundred eight dollars. That insane number is what the last 11 Marvel films have grossed at the box office. This number leaves out the work Sony did with Spiderman (another $1,578,707,099) over the last decade. Continue...
