Harris’ Song of the Week: Notice Me by Alexa Ray Joel
Although the sound and style might be far from familiar sounding, the last name of this artist should arose your ears. Being the daughter of a legend like Billy Joel gives you a certain presence in the music world. Instead of competing on a show like American Idol, Alexa Ray Joel was a potential star from the time of her birth 24 years ago. The happy go lucky style of this song is something surprisingly unique. Although many artists share this bubble gum pop genre, this song has a very cool and collected style. I found it very difficult to compare her style to that of another artist. One thing missing from this song is a piano. The instrument that made her father famous and one that she is classically trained in, there is no hint of it in “Notice Me.” I’m very interested in hearing a full album from Joel. Her album “All I Can [...] Continue...

Album of the Month: Goo Goo Dolls Shock With First Album In Four Years
Skeptical is the one word I would use to describe the Goo Goo Dolls latest album “Something For The Rest Of Us.” I was very wary of weather a band that hadn’t released an album in four years and hadn’t recaptured the success of earlier albums such as “Dizzy Up The Girl” could get back to the top. The song, “Home” is the third song on the album and is one of the hardest songs to enjoy. What makes the Dolls great is their true understanding of the contemporary rock genre. From a fast paced start with songs “Sweetest Lie” and “As I Am” the album seemed to suck the listener in. Although it could of fell appart with track three, the single “Home,” there [...] Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: Brian Wilson by Barenaked Ladies
This is serious. For the first time in quite a few years I have a song permanently stuck in my head. Even when I’m on the verge, humming a new song at work I eventually revert back to this weeks song of the week, “Brian Wilson” by Barenaked Ladies. Although I cannot for the life of me remember where I first heard the song this summer, it has been on constant repeat in my head, at work, at home, in the morning and at night. It’s enough to drive someone crazy. Continue...
