Harris’ Album of the Month: “A Measure Of Wealth” by The Law
Coming home from SXSW, there were two bands sticking in my mind. One was Jaguar Love, and the other was The Law. Hearing them at my very first showcase of the festival, their sound stuck with me through the entire week and has now followed me back to Connecticut. As a long time fan of rock with British roots, The Law has come to us from Scotland and brings a raw energy that is different than bands from America. Reminding me of The Fratellis first album, “Costello Music,” The Law’s debut album has the killer combination of great hooks, raw energy and perfectly blended harmonies. If you are a fan of rock from across the Atlantic like The Switches, Arctic Monkeys, or The Wombats, you will find their sound similar, while the songwriting gives them a unique, fresh feel. Zing! Zang! Protest “The Greatest Show On Earth”
Josh Feldman is a writer and podcast DJ from a suburb outside of Washington, D.C. On his podcast, The Sideswipe he talks about the music industry and other occurrences in the entertainment world. Holla Back at Josh on twitter @Jazzyfeldzle. “Hey Kids! Come here and look at this.” Should this be the one thing you want your children to hear when you take them to the “Greatest Show on Earth”? I didn’t think so. This phrase reminds me of a scene that might happen if I was to take my kids down the sketchiest street in the world. A few weeks ago while I was home on spring break, I went downtown with a couple of my friends. We rode the metro with full intentions on going museum hopping all day (which was the perfect cure after going bar hopping the night before on St. Patty’s). While flipping through the [...] Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: “Love Like Winter” by AFI
Seeing a band live can often influence your love or distaste for a ground. Five years ago after seeing Van Halen I become infatuated with their music, becoming a fan of everything the band had recorded previously. Although it has not manifested itself entirely yet, seeing AFI a few months ago left an indelible impression as far as music goes. My song of the week comes from the bands 2006 release “Decemberunderground” on which it was the second single. The song opens with a stellar solo performance from lead singer Davey Havok over a smooth bed of strings. When the chorus kicks in, you are left with a magical reverb induced coma of perfect hooks blended with smooth guitar. This might be one of my favorite choruses of all time, using the reverbed guitar in a very repetitive fashion. The music video for the song can only be described as epic. Apart from the storyline of the [...] Continue...

O’Brien Returning To NBC, Consulting Leno, Favre For Advice
After a long bitter battle between NBC, Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien resulted in Leno returning to “The Tonight Show,” O’Brien being kicked to the curb and NBC taking all of the heat, it seems as if things might finally be returning to normal at the network. Despite huge ratings, NBC has decided to move Leno back into his 10 o’clock time slot and will reinstate O’Brien as host of “The Tonight Show.” The move came after NBC realized that if they didn’t resign O’Brien, he would likely go to a rival network. Ironically, the same problem presented itself originally when Leno was set to “retire” from NBC. Another factor in bringing O’Brien back was the emptiness of the time slot left vacant by Leno.
