Where Are They Now Friday’s: T.I. “I’m Back”
Josh Feldman is a writer and podcast DJ from a suburb outside of Washington, D.C. On his podcast, The Sideswipe he talks about the music industry and other occurrences in the entertainment world. Holla Back at Josh on twitter @Jazzyfeldzle. Four weeks of writing and I came to the conclusion that I need a gimmick, something to live by and something to be known for. Something that readers can look forward to every time they open The Truth About Music. While watching television online today I came up with a total inspiration. Remember that one band you hear so much about for months and months and then suddenly they fell off the face of the earth? Well I wondered that when I was watching repeats of MTV’s “Battle For Ozzfest.” I heard about all of these bands constantly in every episode and I decided to find out one thing. One [...] Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: “This Ain’t A Love Song” by Scouting For Girls
There are certain bands that just make you smile. It’s even better when you know them and no one else does. A few years back, a close friend sent me a few tracks from a band that had not yet broken in America. The band was Scouting For Girls. It is now three years later and guess what? They still haven’t broken in America. Regardless, their first single from the second album has begun a very low key run on American top 40 radio which could be foreshadowing a U.S. release. This weeks song displays everything that is great about the band. They have a tone that is simply perfect led by lead singer Roy Stride (an awesome frontman name by the way). A beautiful pop sound from the trio, Scouting For Girls are a treat for the ears and are currently being withheld by Europe. It is my hope [...] Continue...

American Idol Recap; Shania Twain
I’m going to be honest. I hate it when shows try to push a square peg into a round hole. That is what Fox has done the past two weeks and it’s getting really annoying. Last week, “Glee” featured a slew of songs from the famed Madonna. This week on “American Idol,” the contestants were only choosing from the country-gone-pop superstars song catalogue. What makes things worse is that all but one of the contestants chose a familiar song. Lee Dewyze kicked off the show and performed the aforementioned “popular” song. Performing “Your’re Still The One,” Dewyze chose a perfect song and backed it with a soulful style he has perfected in recently. Kara Dioguardi said to Dewyze as he finished “Look how far you’ve come.” I still can’t think of him as being a superstar but he’s certainly made strides as of late. Continue...

(SO HOT) HOT CHIP AND TERMINAL 5 (STARS)
Keegan Forte is blogger from New York City. On her Blog, Music Is My Forte, she writes about concerts and music industry happenings. You can follow her on Twitter at @keeganforte. So, before last Thursday (4/22), I had never been to Terminal 5 (cue gasps), and I have to say I was very skeptical. Any venue that’s mainly general admission doesn’t scare me but I just hate lingering off to the side or in the back because it’s too crowded to obnoxiously push your way to the front. Its these kind of places that sometimes are impossible to not only see the show, but feel the show. And Hot Chip, my friends, is a show you need to feel. For T-5 the Subway is a rough option when you’re in a rush, but then again so is a cab. I could have “easily” taken the 7 train to the 1 [...] Continue...

American Idol Mini-Recap; Shania Twain
