SPOILER ALERT!!!! IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE LATEST LOST AND CARE ABOUT SPOILERS, DO NOT READ THIS!!!!!! I’m back this week with a LOST post. Sorry for missing last week, but I was just too overwhelmed by the episode and felt that I simply couldn’t do it justice. So this week was a Jin and Sun centric episode, and right away we learn that in the flash sideways Jin and Sun are not married, but after a little foreplay we do learn that they are in fact eloping and this came a little bit as a surprise to me. Mashup Madness
Keegan Forte is blogger from New York City. On her Blog, Music Is My Forte, she writes about concerts and music industry happenings. You can follow her on Twitter at @keeganforte. Yes, I’m word playing on “March Madness,” but can you blame me? With all the recent hype over “mash-ups” in the music world, they’re just as exciting as picking the winning college basketball team and rolling in the dough (oh, and gloating to your co-workers)! Mash-ups come in all shapes and sizes. Some are awesome, some are not so awesome and some make you wonder why a person thinks they’re awesome enough to mix together such peculiarly paired songs. Continue...

One Word. Trance.
Hey there, I wanted to talk to you guys about TRANCE!! Being a huge fan of most forms of music, one that is often under appreciated, especially in the U.S. is Trance and other forms of dance music. So I’m here to tell you to give Trance a chance. In big cities with established club scenes like New York, L.A., and Miami, dance music is on the rise. The annual Ultra Music Festival just hit Miami, and took it by storm (Completely Sold Out). Continue...

“Volume Two” Is Perfect For You
It’s been a little more than two years to the date since the release of “Volume One,” the obvious first album of the aptly named duo She & Him, consisting of movie star Zooey Deschanel and singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer extraordinaire M. Ward. As you may have guessed, “Volume Two,” their sophomore album, was just released on March 23, and this “Indie Pop”, “Indie Folk”, “Alt-Country” duo has done it again. Now if you’ve read my bio, you know that I absolutely detest country music, but for some reason I have absolutely fallen in love with every song this band has ever recorded, they can do no wrong. This is the exception to my hatred for the country music genre. Continue...

The Legacy of Jack Bauer And “24″
For the past eight years, the television drama world has been fixed on Fox’s “24.” Despite falling ratings and an ever complicating plot line, the show still remains relevant in 2010. With the news on Friday that Fox would not be renewing the show for a ninth season, there is already speculation that the show will not be picked up by another network and its run will be finished. On Tuesday, November 6th, 2001, with the tragic events of 9/11 still in our minds, we first invited Keifer Sutherland and Fox’s brand new “24″ into our living rooms. No one knew what to expect. For the first time, a show would run in real time and the content of the show would not only be relevant, it was be based in reality. Also unique to the show was the running storyline. Each week was part of a complete story unlike [...] Continue...

Chester Bay Wipes Out Competition Nationwide
Josh Feldman is a writer and podcast DJ from a suburb outside of Washington, D.C. On his podcast, The Sideswipe he talks about the music industry and other occurrences in the entertainment world. Holla back at Josh on twitter @Jazzyfeldzle. A small band turns big with Chester Bay. With a name inspired by a small body of water in the Midwest, Chester Bay did exactly what a body of water would do in the Midwest: they became great. The band is comprised of four natives from the midwest who play like they were born to rock. I first found their music when my podcast, The Sideswipe, was in need of some creative push. After they sent me a song titled, “Get Free,” I could sense something in Chester Bay. I had a feeling that someday these men would be great. Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: Polaroids and Red Wine by Jaguar Love
As you all know, I came home from Austin and South By Southwest with a few bands of note. My favorite one was Jaguar Love. Their live sound was a catchy blend of melody and hooks. As far as electro-pop bands go this band nails the hook better than any other. This weeks song of the week demonstrates their ability to find the hook and exploit it. Although my favorite song by the group is “Up All Night,” this song is special on another level. One of these two songs will be featured on a commercial in the next year and that could rocket this band to a new level. The classic sound of Johnny Whitney’s voice on the album is so smooth, described perfectly by Paul Lester of the UK’s Guardian as “Robert Plant on steroids, or Perry Farrell after a sex change.” There are so many ways to [...] Continue...

Iyaz Remixes Green Day On Billboard.com, Does Not Make It To Hollywood
Over the week in my various trips to Billboard.com following their coverage of SXSW, I came across a link to their Mashup Mondays. This weeks song was Green Day’s “21 Guns,” performed by Iyaz, the singer of the smash single, “Replay.” I was actually really excited to see this performance. It is a great song performed by an artist who had already had a great single released. Within seconds of hitting play, I had regretted my decision. What followed was a butchering of Green Day’s song, as Iyaz sang off key, out of time and had major pitch issues. I’m curious how this version of the song ever made it online. A publicist should of stepped in front of the bullet, taking this awful video away from an online world sure to trash it. If this was “American Idol,” Iyaz would never make it to Hollywood after an audition that made [...] Continue...
