The Honda Civic Tour Leaks!!
So I am sitting here on my iPhone and just realized that the Honda Civic Tour has not been publicly announced yet. Lucky for all you loyal readers I don't mind sharing the secret with you. According to my sources, The All American Rejects will be headlining the tour with Jacks Mannequin in support. The All American Rejects are an enigma to me. The write amazing, epic singles yet when push comes to shove they don't sell concert tickets. On a recent tour through Connecticut they stopped at Toads Place, a second rate venue where most major tours can generally sell out. All American Rejects did not even come close. Needless to say AAR will need this successful summer tour to save their musical careers. Continue...

Bamboozle 2009
Although I’ve never had any desire to attend a large scale festival such as Bamboozle, this years headliners might draw me to the smelliest state in the United States (Jersey). As some of you may know, and others may be hearing for the first time, Fall Out Boy and No Doubt will be headlining their respective days at Bamboozle. Can you say awesome? Honestly I think the only way this would of been topped had been if Mark, Tom and Travis decided that their big comeback would begin at Bamboozle, but hey, there’s always next year. Continue...

Album Review: Guns and Roses Chinese Democracy
I was just informed by a friend that not everyone is as well read on the Guns and Roses dilemma as others. Here’s the deal: GNR breaks up, Axel Rose sues GNR, Axel decides that he wants to remain playing as GNR, forms new group under GNR, other members of GNR form Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland, Axel takes 10 years recording Chinese Democracy, and now its 2008!!So I haven’t been to a concert in a while (for me) so I decided that I would start reviewing CD’s in preparation of picking the best album of the year (in the pop domain). Can’t think of a better place to start than the most anticipated album of the year: Chinese Democracy. So after millions of dollars and more than a decade of bitching, moaning and oh yea, recording, Chinese Democracy is finally in stores (and on iTunes). The first question everyone [...] Continue...

Coming Soon and More!!
Hey everyone. Just wanted to check in and make sure that you vote in my poll that is running right now. I am trying to figure out what album everyone thinks is the best of the year in the rock category. Once that poll closes I will be posting the best rap/hip-hop album poll. In the coming weeks I will be reviewing some of these albums and some new ones that you may or may not of heard yet. As always, I appreciate any feedback you deem necessary. Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: Happiness is a Warm Gun by The Beatles
As it always happens, once in a while I get into a phase of older music. Whether it is AC/DC, The Who or Led Zeppelin, I get into these awesome ruts and overplay the shit out of a particular band or era of music. This week, amongst my trip to NYC (Billboard Touring Conference) one band and one song came blasting through my headphones more often than any other. Happiness is a Warm Gun by The Beatles was re-introduced to me a few years ago by the “Across The Universe,” (The Movie). A brilliant rendition of the song was performed by Joe Anderson in the movie and back in 1968 it was originally recorded for the White Album, and originally sung by John Lennon. The song is incredible in that it mixes so many different sections. There are five distinct parts to the song, and its only 3 minutes long! [...] Continue...

Catching Up
Hey everyone, its been a really long time since I last updated my blog. I have missed my song of the week and have not written about much over the past week. The reason I was away; I was at the 2008 Billboard Touring Conference in NYC. This event was filled with industry insiders who spoke about the current state and future of the music industry, and in particular, the touring industry. Among the most famous people that I was able to interact with were Gene Simmons (KISS) and the Allman Brothers. This event was extremely fun and gave me some great industry insights for the future, and even some job prospects for down the road. I will add at song of the week sometime this weekend before returning to the weekly thursday format next week. Thanks for checking in with me. Continue...

Harris’ Song of the Week: Body On Me by Nelly
Contrary to popular belief, white people are capable of enjoying hip/hop and rap just as much as anyone. Although my songs of the week have generally been rock songs, this weeks song takes a step away from this trend. Nelly, a rapper that I grew up with as a middle school student recently released this singe in which Akon and Ashanti also perform. This song combines a great use of classic instrumentation such as piano and percussion, with synthesized beats. To me, the piano sounds are drawn directly from Kanye West. It is extremely similar and gives great reference to the famed producer. The chorus of this song is actually performed by Akon, and this is most likely the part of the song that you will have stuck in your head for the next few hours. Nelly, who raps on the tune is given the credit for singing the song. [...] Continue...

Google G1 is All Hype (And It Won’t Rattle the iPhone)
On a recent outing to the mall I was unfortunate enough to stumble into a T-Mobile Store. Being an employee of the retail branch of Apple Corporations I am very observant of subpar sales teams. Just wanted to mention that upon entering the store and requesting to see the phone, it took a sales person who was not good at talking about a minute in a store that could of fit in most people bathrooms, to find me a phone. Upon finally obtaining the phone it was not blatantly easy to use. It was a little tricky to figure things out but after a few seconds I got the hang of it. It is a very cool little phone, and it does work really well. Unfortunately, as good as Googles new phone operating system works, Apple has already done this, over a year ago. The keyboard is the only defining [...] Continue...

Blackbirds Singing in the Dead of Night
To me, writing is not a forced application created by teachers and tests. It is something that you have to want to do and can only do under the correct set of circumstances. Tonight was one of the best nights as a writer I have ever had. I just felt the need to share this. After returning from a movie with some friends I sat down at my computer feeling the impending pressure of a paper due in about a week. Although I knew I had time, I am unable to write without wanting to write. Something within me has to turn on and at about 10:30 pm on Wednesday, November 12th, that switch was flicked. For some reason I was ready to write. Besides a few momentary breaks in which I flipped through a book, grabbed a drink or searched on a website, I spent the better part of [...] Continue...
