Harris’ Song of the Week: Gasoline by Airborne Toxic Event
Every week there seems to be a song that gets stuck in every playlist I’m listening too. Its that song that every time I sit down at the computer I want to hear. Sometimes its because I’m going to see a concert soon, sometimes its a new album, sometimes its a really old album. This week is no exception to the rule, and it qualifies under two of them. This song is from a new album and I am going to see this band next week. Airborne Toxic Event’s new album is self titled, and is a really solid album. This band is really better experienced live (I saw them open for the Fratellis over the summer), but the song “Gasoline,” is really worth a listening too. If you wanna here a solid song, by a really solid band check this song out and let me know your thoughts on [...] Continue...

Tours you need to know about this fall
Every fall, bands come down from their summer of festivals and partying, and enjoy touring the venues that they may never of gotten to over the summer. This fall the Connecticut music scene is in store for a number of unique concerts ranging from yesterday’s greats to today’s best. Our preview will look at tours coming to 4 of the most influential venues in the area, Webster Theatre, Bridgeport Arena at Harbor Yard, Toads Place and Mohegan Sun. First on our list of fall tours we will stop in Bridgeport at the Arena at Harbor Yard. This coliseum-sized venue is large enough to host basketball and hockey teams, but is small enough to provide a really unique personal atmosphere, absent in most venues this size. This arena will be hosting some of the larger concerts coming through the area. On October 28th, Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional, fresh [...] Continue...

More Albums I Can’t Stop Listening To
So last time was all about the woman. This time its going to be all about the band. The first band I’m going to write about is a very interesting group. Boys Like Girls have pulled off a feat that is almost never done in the genre of emo/pop/make girls go crazy. They created an entire album that most people seem to actually like, me included. Boys Like Girls self titled debut album has been as big of a hit as the group itself is. The album is a wonderful portrayal of how to write an entire album that is good, not just singles. I know, its one thing for me to say this, I love music. I’m not the only one who feels this way. Here’s how I know this. Next time your bored go to a Plain White T’s concert. Notice that most of the crowd (at least [...] Continue...

Concerts I haven’t seen yet but Need too
This is a two part list. First will be all of the concerts that I still want to see, but haven’t. Then my top 5 concerts I’ve already been too. 1. Ben Folds (going to see him October 1st)2. AC/DC (This band has always been one of my favorites and they are finally going on tour again)3. Yellowcard (This one is weird, but I really love their albums and haven’t seen them yet)4. Paul McCartney (Its Paul, enough said)5. Lucky Boys Confusion (I found out that this band only plays shows in Chicago since breaking up so this is the hardest one to accomplish I think) Top Concerts I’ve Been Too 1. Billy Joel at Shea Stadium2. Reel Big Fish with Streetlight Manifesto and Whole Wheat Bread at the Chance (The group I was with received two shout outs from two different bands during this show, it was amazing)3. The [...] Continue...

Albums I can’t Stop Listening Too
There are times when I just need to listen to entire albums. To me, some bands were destined to make albums and some are just around to make singles. For example, I love Counting Crows singles, but I can’t stand any of their albums (or them live for that matter). Also, I love Foo Fighters, but after I hear My Hero and All My Life, it just all sounds the same to me. Other bands can put out album after album and I can listen to any of them. Each album is for a different mood, and each of these albums I would strongly recommend checking out on your own. First album on this list are three female vocalists that you have to get into (if you haven’t already). Two of them you will most likely of heard of, the last one you probably haven’t. Even though she is on [...] Continue...

Summer Music Review Part II
The second half of the summer was just about as exciting as the first half. I had a lot more concerts to go see and a few of them were ones I had been looking forward to for years. For those of you who know the The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, it was a very long time since they last did anything in the music world. They had been on a hiatus since the release of “Jackknife to a Swan,” which featured the single “You Gotta Go.” That was all the way back in 2003. Bosstones fans had been waiting since that day for them to re-unite and give a few more of their legendary performances. They finally announced that they would play two shows in Boston, the “Hometown Throwdown.” Tickets for this event reached over $1,000 on the secondary markets, because no one knew if this would be the bands [...] Continue...
